6 Month Check Up

Marlee's well visit was this morning. She is 14 lbs 11 oz and 26 1/2 inches long, and she still has a pin head :). Her weight is on the low end, so the doctor ran some extra tests. She is exceptionally healthy, but she has a very fast metabolism. Combined with her high activity level, she is burning calories quickly. The solution: more food! As many of you have witnessed, the girl can EAT. She finishes every morsel, so this is good news for her! We go back in a month for another weight check.

Other than that, the appointment was like any other. Dr. Jina watched Marlee sit and scoot and clapped for her, which pleased MJ greatly. She had some shots, which were horrible of course, and cried for her daddy. I'm now thinking that she may actually know what she's saying.

Come on, MJ, say it with me....MA MA!!!

Isn't that the most frusterating thing ever?? Dada was first for both the boys too. It is ok-- I know that you don't believe me, but some day you will asctaully ask her to not say it so much!

Man, I must have been lucky with J. I don't even want to tell you how much she weighed at 6 months. let's just say that she was not in an infant car seat anymore..

And just wait until she gets to the phase J's in... my name is "DaddyMommy" and John is "MommyDaddy".

Liam got a "skinny baby" report too... at his 12 month check-up. I tried to explain that he's very active, but the doctor still wanted us to feed him more, more often, and more fatty foods. It worked - he went from 21 Lbs at 12 months to 25 Lbs at 14 months - hurray! You're lucky she loves to eat. She will "fluff-up" in no time! - Kelly & Patrick *ps, Liam's first word was "nurse-nurse", go figure...

She is absolutely perfect!! Babies are funny with weight... The are "too skinny" or "too chubby" and the next day they are just the opposite.... You obviously take good care of her, watch what she eats, feed her when she is hungry... All of the charts and percentiles in the world are just a guideline-- You have to let her be MJ and not allow the docs to work you up... Look at Austin... VERY CHUBBY, EXTREMELY chubby at 8/9/10 mos old and has spent every day since being "the buttless wonder" : )
