Houston, We Have a Tooth

Well, not so much a tooth as a tiny bit of one finally emerging from the gum. We saw a baby at Subway yesterday who was the same age as MJ, and she had at least 8 teeth. It was so funny to see that mouth full of teeth compared to Marlee's toothless smile. I have to admit, I'm going to miss that gummy grin!

9 Months Old and Trip to the Pool

Marlee is nine months old today! She's 17lbs 3oz...I have to measure her later :) We went to the pool for the first time today. She was very unsure at first, but by the time we put down the camera she was having fun (of course)! Swimming wore her out...she was asleep about 30 seconds after we put her in the stroller to go home.

A Rough Patch

Poor Marlee has hit a bit of a rough patch. Teething, cruising and lack of sleep due to the so-called "9 month sleep regression," all add up to a crabbier-than-usual baby. And a sleepier-than-usual mommy and daddy. Let's hope this phase is a short one.

I'd Like an Order of Caution with a Side of Fear, Please

Marlee June has no fear. She sticks her face under the running water in the tub, or lays on her belly dunks her head under water. She lets go when standing...sometimes she has her balance, others not so much. This morning she pulled up on the loveseat, cruised down to the other end, let go, turned around, and grabbed the coffee table. How that little event didn't end in tears I don't know. She did it successfully, but what about the next time? She's also started pushing her wagon she got for Christmas, but it rolls faster than she can "walk." It gets too far ahead of her, and she's leaning forward at an angle. One of these days, she's going to hit her face on the push bar or the floor, I just know it. Oh, and don't get me started on the standing in the tub. I was hoping the novelty would wear off, but she still thinks it's loads of fun. She got her first real scrape Saturday at our block party. She was crawling downhill on our neighbor's driveway and scraped her chin on the concrete. I'm not so worried about the scrape...it's stitches I'm afraid of. It's not that I want to raise a sissy girl--I certainly never was one--but a tiny dash of fear would be helpful at this stage in the game.

Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day...and I'm a mother! My Mom Cathy is in town, and Mom Diane and Dell came over this morning for brunch. It was a great way to celebrate my first Mother's Day...with all of our mothers! Enjoy these pictures.
